Detail: 3 Phase Development of an Enterprise Park on a Greenfield Site

MDA were appointed in the early 1990’s to design an enterprise park and administrative building. The Successful occupation lead to two further extensions.
The buildings are of single and two storey constructions, with mezzanine floors. The flexible design can be subdivided into 500-1,500 sq.ft. self-contained units.
The fit out of the blocks was catered to the end users, requirements, including training facilities, food industry, arts and crafts and light industrial workshops.
Considerable site constraints including a steep level changes; overhead electrical cables and a 1m Ø culvert lead to creative architectural and engineering design.

MDA were commissioned in 2001 by IDB to produce a Master Plan for the former Mackie Site.
MDA’s role was to assemble a specialist design team to produce cosseted proposal options to accommodate workspace, information & communication technology and light industrial units.
Contemporary space and energy saving techniques were employed to retain a large proportion of the existing buildings.
Fixed accommodation was placed in service modules, freeing up the building’s main volume for future sub-division without constraint.
